The Wiki Creation Process

This was probably the most trying assignment I've done so far. First problem was remembering my password I believe I typed it 30 different times whewwww! It took me a while to figure out how to switch each page going from settings to managing wiki and back to my front page. When I realized all I had to do was go to edit and post to my wiki page. Along with my many struggles the navigation piece going from page to page gave me the hardest time sometimes it would take me to someone else's page, but my user name would still be listed at the top like it belong to me-I guess this must be the way you are allowed to switch over and edit. After while I began to see how everything work and it became a little easier to use. The educational links really guided me on what each wiki page look liked, there are some really nice wiki spaces out there. I haven't seen one geared toward Physical Education unless I didn't look hard enough but if not then I'm going to try and create one for my department and see where it may go from there. The wiki space can be beneficial in all classroom settings I think, with the proper etiquette and professionalism students can have fun with the uses of wiki and explore new ways to enhance each other pages.

  1. Wiki's can be a little temperamental ... you may be interested in checking the Help section of our class because I have posted some wiki tutorial links ...
Glad you figured out your password! This often is the most challenging part!!!

  2. I found that the process for creating a wiki space was a little more involved than creating a blog. Once you start to learn how to navigate through space, it becomes easier. I understand the disappointment of not finding wiki spaces for physical education. I find that sometimes with different art forms. Education is saturated with the core classes that sometimes physical education and the arts are left out.

  3. I, too, found the navigation of the wiki to be a little challenging. I knew what the assignment was, and similarly to you, I did not initially realize that I could have edited the original page to post to my wiki. I created a new page before I figure this out. However, it the process, I learned more about how the wiki works. I learned how to create a link. This is something that I appreciate about this course. It requires me to play with the technology now, so that I have the ability to implement it in my classroom.

  4. Creating a wiki is definitely a process and not an event. It definitely has a learning curve, but I think the benefits make it worthwhile.

I like your enthusiasm for the future use of your wiki with your students. Keep it up!
