E-Tools for Schools

Searching some of these sites were I thought quite eventful, navigating back and forth trying to find something related to my content of Physical education was very interesting. The site I had most fun with was ide@s which stands for interactive dialogue with educators across the state. This site has an array of resources which range from videos, original lessons, science related topics, news events and image ideas. One of my favorites I like very much was guides@s , using this tool would benefit one in as simply traveling across the world and viewing famous landmarks of different sports teams and Olympic stadiums. Imageidea@s was the most used resource available on this site, pictures can really speak a thousand words. With each image students can form a sports collage of some of their favorite images which can show students the different venues, demonstrations and history of some of their favorite sports or teams. The history of each image would tell when, where, why, what, and how it was created for along with how its has impacted the world of sports. They also have listed the most valuable resource of all which is AAHPERD the elite organization for Physical Educators, this site has tons of information one could use ranging from lessons, games and meeting other colleagues across the nation. Annual conferences are held all over the U.S. each year. One other site in particular I enjoyed was the e-Learning for kids, however it only goes up to 6th grade but the information given on this site in the Health Education category could give me another reference to use when looking in getting students to gain a better understanding of the human body, I love the neat illustrations it use to teach the students and the diagrams to show how each body part work. This site I would send to all my cohorts who teach K-6 they would really enjoy this site.

  1. Wow, I had no idea there were so many activities for PE online. I recently helped to write a curriculum for an elective course for social studies, and we tied in the Olympics with Foreign Policy decisions. I know 9th graders will be more motivated when they read about sports. www.olympic.org is also a great site. We linked geography of the games, how the OIC chose the sites, and a discussion about certain regions of the world which are rarely chosen. There are also a lot of economics and sports lessons on many sites. I love to work with teachers and complete interdisciplinary units of study. Happy searching.
